Dark Reflections Tarot

The Dark Reflections Tarot Deck is a unique deck that focuses on shadow work. It is designed by Esra Dagtekin Mirt. The deck has 78 cards, including 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards divided into four suits, and a guidebook. The cards are made of high-quality art paper with stunning printing on both sides and have a holographic gilded edge. The deck features reversed aspects of tarot, with stunning artwork that follows the Waite-Smith symbology. The guidebook contains dedicated information pages for each card, with shadow traits, growth opportunities, and questions to ask. Although the guidebook could have more information about shadow work, the deck is perfect for those drawn to exploring the depths of their psyche.

A practice that can help you on this journey is Shadow work. To make this an exciting new experience I created the Dark Reflections Tarot Deck which was designed with shadow work in mind.

About the Creator

The art director for this deck is Esra Dagtekin Mirt. She used to be a school art teacher but now owns an esoteric shop. She also runs a blog and does Kickstarter campaigns. La Muci Design, her small boutique shop, started during the coronavirus pandemic. Esra has put a lot of time and love into designing tarot decks and other spiritual items. La Muci Design has an online store where you can buy their tarot decks, oracle decks, and other spiritual items. Although they are located in Slovenia, they have a nice online store that you can access from anywhere.

Cards and the Artwork

The deck features 78 cards, including 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards divided into four suits: wands, cups, pentacles, and swords. It is made of high-quality 350-gram art paper with stunning CMYK printing on both sides. The cards are protected by matte lamination and have a beautiful holographic gilded edge that shimmers in the light. They have a width of 70mm (~2.75 inches) and a height of 120mm (~4.75 inches), making them standard size.

The cards themselves come in pretty much all the colours imaginable, which contrasts nicely against the all-black design of the card backs, guidebook, and deck box. However, the colours are not all happy and bright. You still get the feeling of shadows surrounding your psyche.

One of the things I adore about Dark Reflections Tarot is its focus on the reversed aspects of tarot. For instance, you’ll see an arguing couple instead of a happy couple in the Lovers card. Essentially, everything is upside down, and I find it fascinating. During a tarot reading, we have certain preconceptions about the meanings of the cards. With everything flipped, we get to see new perspectives.

As always with La Muci Design’s cards, the artworks are stunning. Even though reversed, the Waite-Smith symbology is clear. You can easily understand the meaning of the card by looking at it.

The Guidebook of Dark Reflections

The guidebook and cards are designed to be compact and portable, with the guidebook being the same size as the cards. Both fit snugly into the deck box, which is a sturdy magnetic flip box. Although the guidebook is relatively thin, with just 86 pages, it is packed with helpful information about the cards. However, the downside is that since the guidebook has only limited space, there is not that much introduction to shadow work, as most of the pages are reserved for the card pages. Luckily, there is a Facebook group that you can join. It has a 30-day challenge and a supporting community.

For each card, there is a dedicated information page. You get a short description of what the card represents and a picture of the card. There is also the ruling planet, astrological sign, and the element associated with the card. If you are interested in the shadow work aspect of the deck, there are some tools for you to use. For each card, you get shadow’s traits to explore, challenges when repressed, growth opportunities, and questions to ask. Overall, you get a surprisingly huge amount of information for such a small guidebook.

Conclusion

For those who are drawn to shadow work, Dark Reflections is the perfect deck to add to your collection. The cards are not only stunning in their design and quality, but they also offer a profound opportunity to explore the depths of your psyche. And if you’re looking for a community of like-minded individuals, the Facebook group is a great place to connect and support each other in your journeys of self-discovery.
