The tarot is a pack of playing cards, used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian tarocchini, French tarot and Austrian Königrufen. In the late 18th century, some tarot decks began to be used for divination via tarot card reading and cartomancy.

The Ars Goetia is the first section of the grimoire known as the Lesser Key of Solomon, containing descriptions of the 72 demons that King Solomon is said to have evoked and confined in a brass vessel sealed by magic symbols, and that he obliged to work for him.

Runes are the letters in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets, which were used to write various Germanic languages before the adoption of the Latin alphabet. Runes have also been used in divination and magic throughout history.
