From the Dreamscapes Tarot Deck product description
Dreamscapes Tarot is La Muci Design‘s latest deck. I just received my copy through their Kickstarter campaign and couldn’t wait to share my review of this fantastic deck. It is not a surprise for those who have read my other reviews of their decks, but I think they might be my favourite Tarot deck studio. Dreamscapes Tarot is a visually stunning and intricately designed set that beautifully illustrates the interconnectedness of individual tarot cards. It is also available in a compact mini version, making it travel-friendly.

About the Creator
Esra Dagtekin Mirt, the art director for this deck, used to work as a school art teacher but now owns a shop specializing in esoteric items. She is also a blogger and manages Kickstarter campaigns. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, she established La Muci Design, a small boutique shop. Esra has devoted much time and enthusiasm to producing tarot decks and other spiritual products. La Muci Design operates an online store where customers can buy tarot decks, oracle decks, and other spiritual items. While the business is based in Slovenia, its online store is accessible from anywhere.
Cards and the Artwork
The cards (70 mm x 120 mm / ~2.75″ x 4.75″) are made of high-quality 330 gsm black core art paper from Germany, and the printing on both sides is vibrant and crisp. The cards are easy to shuffle without sticking together. Additionally, the ice-blue foil pattern on the card back and the gilded edges add a touch of elegance to the set. The deck consist of the full 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards, broken into four suits of wands, cups, pentacles, and swords. When all the cards from each suit are brought together, they form a complete picture, which is truly stunning and clever.
The high-quality box (82 mm x 134 mm x 52 mm / ~3.2″ x 5.3″ x 2″) that comes with the deck is also stunning. It has soft matte lamination, a reflective pattern with blue gold foil, and hot silver foil-stamped text inside. Overall, the box’s aesthetics fit well with the cards. A small strap is attached to the box for easy card removal, which is a thoughtful addition. I wish more deck boxes had this feature. One thing that worries me about the box is its hinge, which looks like it may not last many years in active use.
The art style of the cards is clear, making them easy to interpret. The connection to the Waite-Smith symbolism is so direct that even a beginner can easily pick up the deck. The colours used in the illustrations are vivid and support the dreamscape theme of the deck. I particularly like the fact that the primary colour of the deck, blue, is repeated in one form or another on practically every card. The characters’ expressions are explicit, making interpreting their intentions easier. The characters are generally very diverse, which is a positive feature of modern decks.
The Guidebook of Dreamscapes Tarot
The guidebook is the same size as the cards, so it fits nicely in the same box. The guidebook covers have the same pattern and gilding as the cards and the box, matching the theme. The paper is durable, and the pages are easy to turn. Good-quality guidebooks are a recurring theme in La Muci Designing’s decks.
The guide begins with a brief introduction to tarot cards and explains how to start working with them. Nothing amazing or earth-shattering, but the guidebook does an excellent job of packing a lot of information into a small space. Next, the guidebook introduces the deck and the idea behind it. Finally, there are some basic spreads to get a beginner started.
One page of the guide is reserved for each card. The cards have a picture, a short description and a slightly longer description. The short description has replaced the keywords in this guidebook, which may not be the best solution for the more experienced reader. A beginner will get more out of the short description, but quickly glancing at the card’s meaning is more challenging. However, this is only a minor complaint in an otherwise so excellent guidebook.
Conclusion
The Dreamscapes Tarot by La Muci Design is a visually stunning and beautifully designed set that illustrates the interconnectedness of individual tarot cards. The deck offers high-quality cards, a sturdy and beautiful deck box, and a guidebook that effectively introduces the deck and provides valuable information for beginners. Incorporating the dreamscapes theme and the clever idea of forming a complete picture when all the cards from each suit are brought together make this deck a must-buy for me.
