Agares is the second spirit in the list of Solomon’s 72 demons. Before his descent into the infernal realm, he was a member of the angelic order of Virtues, indicating his once-angelic nature and role. In the hierarchy of Hell, he is elevated to the position of the first duke under the power of the East, commanding 31 legions of spirits.
Agares is often depicted as an old and handsome man riding a crocodile while carrying a goshawk on his fist. His diverse range of abilities spans both the physical and metaphysical realms. He possesses the power to make those who are on the run come to a standstill, and he is adept at tracking down and retrieving runaways. Moreover, Agares is a repository of knowledge, capable of teaching all languages to those who seek his wisdom.
