Information About Amon

Amon is a demon that has been described in various texts and mythologies. In the Lesser Key of Solomon, he is referred to as a Marquis with great power and sternness. He appears like a wolf with a serpent’s tail, spitting out flames of fire. However, he can also take on the form of a man with a dog’s teeth set in a head like a raven or a man with a raven’s head. Amon is known to be the strongest Prince of all other demons and can understand all things past and to come. He is said to be able to procure feuds and reconcile controversies between friends. According to the Lesser Key of Solomon, he governs 40 legions of spirits.

In Johann Weyer’s “Pseudomonarchia Daemonum,” Amon is described as a great and mighty Marquis who can come as a wolf. He has a serpent’s tail and breathes fire. When he takes on the shape of a man, he displays dog’s teeth and a great head like that of a raven. He can procure favour and reconcile friends and foes.

In Collin de Plancy’s Dictionnaire Infernal, Amon is described as the most solid of the princes of the demons. The Egyptians regarded Amon as their supreme God and depicted him with blue skin when he assumed human form. Amon and Amaunet are mentioned in the Old Egyptian Pyramid Texts, and Amun became the tutelary deity of Thebes. He was married to Mut, and together with their son, the Moon god Khonsu, they formed the divine family known as the “Theban Triad.”
