I must confess that I couldn’t resist the temptation and opened Kickstarter once again. As I was browsing through the website, I stumbled upon The Divina Serenity Oracle Deck, and its beauty immediately caught my attention. Without any hesitation, I decided to back the project and pledge my support. Now that the deck has just arrived and I’ve had some time to reflect on my impulsive decision, I can honestly say that I have no regrets. The deck is truly stunning, and I can’t wait to start experimenting with it. But first, let’s review it!

– Cardstock feels flimsy
– AI assistance was used (art is still mostly done by a human)

About the Creator of The Divina Serenity Oracle Deck

The Divina Serenity Oracle Deck was designed by Christopher Lee. He is a very talented freelance concept artist specialising in creating artwork for the theme park industry. He has recently found his passion for creating tarot decks, which has resulted in the Harmony Tarot Deck and the Feline Fantasy Tarot Deck, among other things.

In addition to his tarot and oracle decks, he also creates cool pins. Christopher likes to combine his artistic skills with AI technology to create truly unique and stunning designs that are both beautiful and innovative. I feel like The Divina Serenity Oracle Deck is a perfect example of his artistic talent. His ability to create beautiful and meaningful artwork with the help of AI has reached its full potential.

Cards and the Artwork

The Divina Serenity Oracle Deck has 78 cards. The card dimensions are 70mm x 120mm (2.75″ x 4.75″), making them standard-sized. The stock quality feels flimsier than I would have liked, but the linen finish makes the cards easy to shuffle. At least after I got them to separate from each other. However, cards sticking together on a new deck is a common problem with many Tarot and Oracle cards, so I can’t only blame this deck.

The cards come with a gold gilt edge, which adds a wow factor to this deck. I don’t know if it was supposed to be sparkly, but at least my deck looks like it has glitter on the edges. Either way, it seems magical, and I like it.

The cards in this deck will fit snugly and safely inside a custom-printed rigid box composed of two pieces. However, I’m wondering if the box might be a bit too snug. At least, I’ve had trouble placing my cards inside it at first. I guess this is a taste issue. Some people like the cards to sit tight, but others don’t. I have big hands, so I like a bit of space.

I’m not a fan of AI art. So why did you order this deck, you might ask? That’s a good question. Let me explain. Usually, AI art has a specific look to it. However, Christopher Lee has only used AI as a tool and added his touches to the AI-suggested template. So, it’s not purely AI art, making it still look unique. You can watch his process here and see that he is a legit artist.

The artwork in the deck is a fusion of several elements, including powerful depictions of female empowerment, fantasy imagery, and a subtle nod to the world of anime. The overall aesthetic of the deck is incredibly soothing and pleasing to the eye, as the serene visuals transport the viewer to a place of stories. The colours look vibrant, and the scenes are full of life. When looking at the cards, you can’t stop wondering about the story of the people depicted. This style is not for everyone, but for me, it is just what I wanted.

The Guidebook

There is a guidebook that comes with some editions of the deck and is also sold separately. It is handy, but since this is an Oracle deck, it’s not a completely necessary purchase. The guidebook measures 15.24cm x 10.80cm (6″ x 4.25″) in size and has 148 pages. It contains 78 illustrations and oracle card meanings that are quite useful for interpreting the deck.

The guidebook’s paper quality is excellent, and the picture print quality is incredible, making it a pleasure to read. However, since the guidebook is small in size and the paper is quite thick, some readers may find it challenging to keep the booklet open while reading. Nonetheless, this minor issue does not detract from the overall usefulness and beauty of the guidebook.

The guidebook for the deck doesn’t have any additional background information. I usually like it when I’m given some background information on who the characters on the deck are. Still, it has a page dedicated to the picture of each card and another page for the explanation. The text is simple to understand yet informative. A well-written guidebook is beneficial when learning a new deck, but you can also create your own interpretation. For me, this booklet is a must-have.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the card quality of this deck might not be as good as you might want, but it’s still a good deck. The art style and the scenes are beautiful and combine into a journey to stories, which is just the thing you will want from your oracle deck. If this looks like a deck you might like and you find it at a reasonable price, give it a try.
