Free resources: printables, cheat sheets and starter guides

Everything on this page is free. You do not need an account, and you do not need to buy anything to start learning. I write these resources with the same care as my books: plain words, real history and honest sources.

The Novice’s Mini-Grimoire

A small, free starter grimoire for complete beginners. It has fifteen pages with tarot basics, three simple spreads, the moon phases, a candle intention ritual and journal pages. It is friendly to print, and you do not need a deck, a kit or any experience to use it.

The Mini-Grimoire is the one resource I send by email, because it comes with my newsletter. You confirm your address once, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email. Read what is inside on the Mini-Grimoire page.

The free tarot course

Tarot for Beginners is a free course of 30 short lessons, from your first shuffle to the Celtic Cross. There is no sign up. Your progress is saved in your own browser, so you can stop and start whenever you like. At the end there is a certificate of completion for your own records.

All 78 tarot card meanings

Every card in the tarot has its own page: all the card meanings. Each one gives the upright and reversed meaning, the symbols in the 1909 Rider-Waite-Smith art, love and work examples and a small spread to try. You can print any card page from your browser if you like to keep notes on paper.

For the structure of the deck, start with The Major Arcana: the Fool’s Journey explained and The Minor Arcana: suits and numbers made simple.

Starter guides

If you are new, these guides are a good place to begin:

A printable workbook

If you prefer to learn on paper, my 45-page Tarot Workbook is a printable download with a cheat sheet for all 78 cards, tarot spreads and journal pages. It goes well with the card pages and the free course. It is in my Etsy shop, and it is the one thing on this page that costs money: the Tarot Workbook on Etsy.

How I make these

I write every resource myself and check facts against published sources, which are listed at the end of each guide. Images are public domain or licensed, and every one is credited on the sources page. The pages are built to be read with a keyboard or a screen reader, and printed pages use plain, high-contrast text.
