This course is free and always will be. No account, no email needed. Your progress stays in your own browser. If every witchcraft book tells you to “ground, center and visualize” and you are not sure how, you are exactly who I wrote it for.

Meditation for Beginners: A Novice’s Path teaches the inner skills underneath tarot, spellwork and ritual in ten short lessons. We start with what meditation can and cannot do, according to the research, then learn breath and posture, the body scan and grounding, and visualization. We step into a tarot card with pathworking, learn a simple shield with honest notes on mental health, build a five-minute daily habit, and then add walking meditation, loving-kindness and a four-week plan.

What you will learn

  • What meditation is, and what the research honestly says it helps with.
  • How to sit and breathe comfortably, in a chair or on the floor.
  • The body scan and simple grounding techniques.
  • Visualization, including what to do if you have aphantasia.
  • How to meditate with a tarot card (pathworking).
  • A simple shielding practice and when to stop and seek support.
  • How to build a small daily practice that lasts.

How it works

Open a lesson, read it, try the exercise and press “Mark as done”. Your progress is saved privately in your browser, so nothing is sent to me. When every lesson is done, you can open your certificate of completion.

I label what I teach in three layers, as everywhere on this site: Historical for what the evidence shows, Later tradition for what writers and occultists added later, and Modern for practice today. Modern does not mean fake. It means honest about its age.

The lessons

  1. Why meditate? What it can and cannot do
  2. Breath and posture
  3. The body scan and grounding
  4. Visualization: training the imagination
  5. Tarot pathworking: meditating with a card
  6. Shielding, safety and your mental health
  7. Building a daily practice
  8. Walking meditation, step by step
  9. Loving-kindness and self-compassion
  10. A four-week meditation plan

How each lesson works

Every lesson opens with why the topic matters. Then comes the teaching itself in plain prose, a worked example that shows the idea in action, one small exercise for your notebook and a short recap, with the sources I used listed at the end. A three-question quiz at the bottom checks the main idea, and nobody sees your answers. The last part of each lesson links to the next one. If a lesson needs a second evening, give it one.

Who this course is for

This course is for complete beginners, for witches and tarot readers who want a steadier practice, and for anyone who finds meditation instructions too vague. It does not ask you to adopt any religion. Every practice can be shortened, done with eyes open or skipped.

What you need

A chair or cushion, a timer, a notebook, and for lesson 5 a tarot card or a picture of one. A candle is optional; a photo of a flame works too. For lesson 8, a quiet path or room where you can walk ten slow steps.

Start now

Begin with Why meditate? What it can and cannot do. It takes about ten minutes.

Go deeper

My grounding and centering page is a short daily practice, the 5-minute practices fit around a busy life, and protection builds on lesson 6.
